More Hotels in India for Mid-Range Travellers in Coming Years

There is one place on planet where every hospitality group is seeking to plan its expansion and that is India!

India has always been a popular holiday destination but the massive mushrooming of the region’s tour and travel scene has been just incredible over the last few years. With booming economy, better infrastructure, more airlines catering the market, efficient transport network and enhanced airports, it is no denying the fact that India has finally arrived big time in world of tourism!

However it can not be argued that at present India just does not have enough hotels to cater to the huge demand that is being created by tourists taking flights to India. And this where hotel chains jump in the fray!

On Monday, the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group announced that it is going to open 49 hotels under mid-scale brand ‘Park Inn’ in North and Central India by 2024. These properties will be developed in partnership with Bestech Hospitalities Pvt Ltd, an India-based firm.

The two companies will together invest USD 42 million in the first two hotels that will be operational in Gurgaon and Mohali (two North Indian cities) in the next three years.

Park Inn is a “mid-scale” brand that would cater to budget travellers booking cheap flights to India. Apart from foreign travellers, the company hopes to target domestic travel demand in India.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group is a major global player that has already announced plans to establish 100 hotels across different brands in India by 2015. The group presently operates more than 50 properties in India under brands names of Radisson, Radisson BLU, Park Plaza and Country Inn and Suites.
