Abu Dhabi continues infrastructure improvements

Holidaymakers taking flights to Abu Dhabi could find that the roads are easier to navigate when they arrive following the opening of a series of tunnels.

The emirate is creating an extensive network of tunnels to ease traffic flow and the latest phrase has now been opened to vehicles, Emirates247.com reported.

The sections in Khalifa, Hamdan, Salam and Mina Streets can now be used by vehicles, with the emirate pushing ahead to complete the entire project by early 2012 at the latest.

It is currently around 80 per cent finished but has taken four years to reach this stage.
