Kenya Airways Plans to Expand its Flight Networks
According to the chief executive officer of Kenya Airways, after getting the delivery of its 787 Dreamliner and Boeing 777s, the airline will expand its flight network and will cover destinations in the Middle East and Asia.
Kenya Airways has placed an order of nine aircrafts with an option of taking four more in order to flourish its fleet and network. In the coming years, the airline is also expecting a high growth in passengers, cargo demand and network extension and thus has planned to gain more 787 Dreamliners
With a capacity to carry 210-250 passengers, the 787-8 Dreamliner, will substitute the old 767 aircraft and will open up new long-range routes. This strategy will perhaps be very fruitful for the travellers planning air travel and booking flights to Nairobi and other destinations for their holiday or business trip.
Kenya Airways, the flag carrier and largest airline of Kenya serves five domestic and 16 international destinations. This Jomo Kenyatta International Airport based airline is probably the first airline that pops in mind while booking tickets for flights to Nairobi.
Last month, Kenya Airways declared its half-year resort that states that the passengers flying from Middle East have risen up to 24 per cent and the turnover reached Dh2.23 billion over last year’s Dh1.67 billion. With the addition of three new destinations — Jeddah, N’Djamena and Ouagadougou in Africa — the airline has earned loads of profit and has lifted its status in the tour travel world.
The Trade Minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere believes that there is a lot of trade between Africa and the Middle East and a lot of horticulture and agriculture movement from Kenya to the Middle East.

Be Ready To Spend More As Air India Increased Fuel Surcharge
Many Indian states impose sales tax as high as 30% on air turbine fuel which causes the total operating cost of an airline to rise manifold. Apparently airlines have been demanding Indian government to reduce taxes on ATF.
With this upward spiralling of ATF, budget tourists taking flights to India for winter holidays in peak travel months like December and January would now need to shell out more on air travel within the country.
Tourists taking cheap flights to India for holiday trips to cities like Goa, Banglore, etc, might need to spend a bomb as the average range of fares for flying from Delhi might witness a tremendous hike in the coming days.
While tourists taking cheap flights to India for winter holidays will have to shell out more for air fares to further cities, the high demand of cheap tickets in the peak travel months of January and December might also lead to a hike in basic fares.
Furthermore, tourists flying out from Delhi Airport would need to pay INR 221 (little more than 2 GBP) as the airport charges.
Tourists taking flights to India during peak travel months should make early bookings to grab cheap tickets on domestic flights and avoid airfare hikes.
Further, during the festive season most domestic airlines usually witness a virtual stampede for cheap tickets that makes it even more essential for holidaymakers contemplating Indian tours to make early bookings.

Delhi IGI Airport is the top Indian Air Travel Hub
The Indian capital Delhi has won its spurs with its international airport ‘IGI Airport’ emerging as a bigger Indian air travel hub leaving the Indian financial capital Mumbai behind. According to the latest reports, the Delhi Airport has superseded Mumbai Airport as the busiest in India.
The air travel traffic movement figures clearly show that Mumbai airport, which maintained the status of being the busiest airport since 2006-08 has now reached to a point of saturation because of the shortage of space and postponement in constructing a second airport.
Both Delhi and Mumbai have been the preferred choice of international travellers who book cheap flights to India for their holidays with numerous full service and cheap airlines serving them. However, the severe space crunch at Mumbai Airport and the resulting limited infrastructure is being seen as the major cause for it to lag behind in passenger traffic.
Another major reason for decline in passengers booking tickets for flights to India and landing at Mumbai airport is that the airport has cross-runways, which make simultaneous flight functioning unachievable. This obviously has restricted Mumbai airport’s flight handling capacity. Delhi’s parallel runways can handle simultaneous flights operation which means more flights to India landing and taking off from here.
The analysts believe that in the coming times, when Mumbai airport will reach the mark of 40-million-passenger traffic, it will be locked. The neighbouring Navi Mumbai airport is expected to get active by 2017 only and is Mumbai's only ray of hope to reclaim its lost status and traveller’s attention when they book cheap flights to India. Till that time Mumbai airport is a closed airport, as experts believe.
Kapil Kaul, CEO, sub-continent and West Asia says that the government will have to speed up the clearances for Navi Mumbai Airport or else evaluating Mumbai and Delhi will be like “comparing cheese and chalk”.
