The number of flights to Thailand has risen substantially, according to new figures.
Data from the Airports of Thailand (AoT) shows that Suvarnabhumi Airport saw an increase in passenger traffic by 7.9 per cent over the festive period compared to the 2009, reports the Bangkok Post.
It is estimated that 1.8 million passengers will travel through the airport over the 12 days of the holiday season, with airlines increasing flight services by five per cent from December 25th to January 5th to meet the stronger demand.
The airport, which is a major destination for Brits taking flights to Thailand, will handle a total of 9,739 flights - 6,980 international and 2,759 domestic - in the 12-day period, compared with 9,287 over the same period last year.
